Texas Tech awards first vet school scholarship endowed by TAD

The Texas Association of Dairymen in 2022 endowed a scholarship at the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo, which opened in fall 2021 as the state’s second veterinary school. TAD is proud to announce that the first recipient of the scholarship is Kayla Wallace, Class of 2025, of La Grange, who also attended Texas Tech University for her undergraduate and master’s degrees.

Congratulations to Wallace! To help you learn more about her, we’ve reprinted this excerpt from her thank you note to the TAD Board:

“I started my agricultural and animal husbandry journey in my hometown of La Grange, Texas, working on a small family-owned Jersey dairy farm. After moving to beautiful West Texas to attend Texas Tech University, I continued my dairy education through working on large animal dairy farms and participating in dairy calf research while earning my master’s degree. When applying to veterinary schools, I knew that I wanted to attend a school that would prepare me to return to a rural or regional community in Texas or New Mexico. TTU SVM (Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine) has made that dream of becoming a rural veterinarian a reality, and I cannot wait to see my career unfold.

“As the end of the semester grows near, I look back at all the material covered, skills taught, and friends made and feel overwhelmingly grateful to be attending this ground-breaking school. Again, I would like to thank you for investing in my education hear at TTU SVM.”
