Got milk? Texas dairies help fill refrigerators with milk, ice cream, yogurt, cheese and other dairy products.

Dairy products not only fuel and build strong Texans, they also fuel and build strong local and state economies. For every 100 cows, a dairy farm creates six jobs, both direct and indirect.

These jobs are not just on the farm but in related fields. Jobs and income are generated when farmers purchase machinery, trucks, fuel and other equipment; buy feed and healthcare for their animals; and use services such as banking and insurance. And after the milk leaves the farm, it continues to create jobs in transportation, distribution and retail markets.

Combined, the milk production and processing sectors yields a value added to the Texas economy of $1.23 billion.
